Jumpstart’s Read for the Record

Wilkes County, NC [Oct 29th] – Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, took place at participating preschools and child care centers on October 29th. Read for the Record is a national campaign designed to bring young children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day in communities all over the world. Each participating classroom was given the book to share for storytime, and each book was donated to the classroom as a gift.

This year’s book is Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away by Meg Medina. A book that celebrates the enduring power of friendship over time and distance.

The Wilkes Community Partnership for Children joined this campaign to help promote early childhood education in the hopes that every child will enter Kindergarten prepared to succeed.
